There's been a change in the leadership of the farmer group campaigning for meat industry reform.
Chair of the Meat Industry Excellence group, Southland farmer Richard Young, has resigned to stand for a seat on the board of Silver Fern Farms, which is holding elections soon.
Another MIE executive member, east coast farmer Dan Jex-Blake, has also stepped down so he can contest a seat on the Silver Fern farms board as well.
The group's deputy chair Ohakune farmer John McCarthy has stepped up as chairman.
Mr McCarthy says the board elections for the Silver Fern Farm and Alliance co-operatives are a chance for farmers to show whether they support the status quo or want reform.
The two co-operatives themselves have announced changes at board level.
Murray Taggart has been appointed as chairman of Alliance Group Limited to replace Owen Poole effective from 1 October 2013.
