Drought gripping Queensland moves south - NSW Govt

10:25 am on 22 November 2013

The New South Wales government says the drought which has gripped 62% of Queensland is moving south.

The state government is pumping $8 million into assistance for its own farmers, and individual farmers will be eligible for up to $20,000 to help them cart stock and another $30,000 for water supplies.

The ABC reports the additional help includes transport subsidies, water grants and waiving of rates.

New South Wales Minister for Primary Industries Katrina Hodgkinson says it matches what Queensland is doing in terms of drought assistance.
