Rural GPs to question Minister on funding

1:09 pm on 11 March 2010

The Rural General Practice Network is concerned that staff shortages will get worse in the coming months, as the Health Minister signals they need to share the financial pain caused by the recession.

The network will be asking the minister, Tony Ryall, to explain his position on the matter tomorrow, during a session of its annual conference which started in Christchurch on Thursday.

Chair Kirsty Murrell-McMillan says 48 practices have not been able to fill GP vacancies for about 12 months.
