What's claimed to be the world's largest milk powder drier was officially opened by Fonterra at Darfield on Saturday.
Fonterra says the drier will allow it to process more milk in Canterbury, the country's fastest-growing dairying region. The drier has the capacity to produce 700 metric tonnes of whole milk powder a day.
The powder will be exported to more than 20 markets, including the Middle East, China and south-east Asia.
