New Zealand shearers Rowland Smith and Tony Coster have taken an unbeatable lead in a international test series against Wales.
They beat visiting Welsh shearers Gareth Daniel and Richard Jones at the Otago championships in Balclutha at the weekend.
The New Zealand pair won the first test at the Rotorua A&P Show a fortnight ago, so they go 2-0 into the third test at the Southern Shears in Gore next weekend. The final test is at the Pahiatua Shears on 23 February.
And in an upset at the Otago championships, Te Awamutu woolhandler Keryn Herbert beat Golden Shears and World champion Joel Henare in the New Zealand Woolhandler of the Year final.
