The next generation of New Zealand's top shearers and wool handlers have been doing their thing in the novice events at the Golden Shears in Masterton.
Fifteen-year-old Connor Puha of Kimbolton won the novice shearing final on Thursday on day one of the three-day event.
The Feilding High School student will also be lining up in the senior woolhandling event on Saturday - he's the top qualifier for the semi-finals.
Another 15-year-old, Shaylyn Te Huia, won the novice woolhandling final, having also won at the recent North Island championships in Marton.
