Projects from water quality in the Opihi catchment to the diversification of the forestry industry are set to gain from the latest round in the Sustainable Farming Fund.
Nearly $20 million will be spent on 31 projects, with almost half of that from the Government fund.
Minister for Primary Industries Nathan Guy said each project would deliver real economic and environmental benefits to New Zealand.
They were driven from the grass roots and were particularly important to regional communities, Mr Guy said.
Five of the projects, worth more than $2.1 million, will help Maori agri-business, while a project in the Waikura Valley will look at the critical risks associated with gully erosion, trialling new methods to stabilise the severely damaged area.
The dairy sector receives the lions share of funding, with nearly $3 million allocated to nine projects.
Smaller amounts go to two apiary projects and one viticulture idea.
