Wool prices lift again

Wool prices have further improved despite the rising dollar.

Wool Services International reports that supply and demand factors outweighed currency considerations at last week's combined North and South Island auctions.

Coarse crossbred fleece prices gained up to 2.5% and second shear wool was up to 1% dearer.

Fine lambs fleece rose by 2% - 4% and coarser types by 1% - 2%.

WSI says 80% of the 9500 bales was sold, with the main competition coming from buyers for the Australasian, Chinese and Middle Eastern markets.
