Future leaders in the horticulture sector are battling it out today for the national Young Grower of the Year title.
The day long competition in Christchurch will consist of practical and theoretical challenges, including fertilising crops, crate construction, quad bike safety and a speech in front of judges.
The five competitors are fruit growers from Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Nelson and Otago, along with a vegetable grower from Pukekohe.
