The rapid increase in land being used for vineyards is set to continue, with wine grapes now New Zealand's largest horticultural crop.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's annual four-year forecast says that trend and the long summer will push up wine exports by 30%.

New Zealand Wine Growers says the industry is well prepared for dealing with an excess of wine. It says East Asia's interest in wine is growing, and that is where growers need to sell more.
