Teritary Education Minister Steven Joyce is calling for public submissions on a proposed merger between Lincoln University and Telford Rural Polytechnic.
The South Island-based institutions have submitted a business case to Mr Joyce for his consideration.
He's satisfied the merger will benefit land-based education, but wants to make sure the public supports it, before he makes a final decision in October.
Submissions close on 17 September.
