Fewer rural properties were sold in the past three months than in the same period last year.
Figures from the Real Estate Institute show 390 farms sold in the three months to October, compared with 582 last year, and 470 in 2006.
The institute says there have been plenty of inquiries about rural properties, but sales are being limited as finance becomes unavailabe.
The median sale price for a farm in the past three months was $200,000 higher than in the same period last year.
