Season from hell for farmer

8:40 am on 27 May 2011

Golden Bay dairy farmer Sue Brown says the latest flooding caps off a season from hell.

For the fourth time in six months, flooding has ruined much of the pasture and wiped out fences on her property.

Up to 500mm of rain fell in the Tasman District overnight on Wednesday, flooding farmland in Golden Bay.

Ms Brown says this season has been diabolical with an extended period of cold, wet weather, followed by a spring drought and then the worst flooding in 169 years.

She says it will take months to recover from the latest flooding.
