Zespri lowers sales forecast

2:02 pm on 17 December 2008

Kiwifruit marketer Zespri blames fruit losses for a drop in its sales forecast between October and December.

The company's fruit and service payments excluding the loyalty premium decreased by $3.4 million to almost $775 million.

Chief financial officer Merv Dallas said most fruit losses were in the green kiwifruit variety.

He said the fruit loss levels were about the same as last year, although the company is selling greater volumes of produce.

Mr Dallas said the global economic uncertainty has caused a slow-down in demand from European customers.
