University Oval should be good for Black Caps

He may not have have enjoyed much success on a personal level against South Africa in the past but spinner Dan Vettori's upbeat about New Zealand's chances in the first cricket test starting in Dunedin tomorrow.

While the Black Caps have been outclassed in the Twenty20 and one day series against South Africa, the return of skipper Ross Taylor and the arrival of Vettori and pace bowler Chris Martin in the squad should help reinvigorate the side.

Vettori's taken only 18 test wickets in eleven tests against South Africa but says the University Oval has been a good venue for New Zealand side's winning two of the three tests played there and drawing the other.

The last time New Zealand played a test in at University Oval was in November 2009 against Pakistan.

The Black Caps won the match but it marked the end of Shane Bond's test career, for after a man of the match performance he was forced to announce his retirement because of injury.
