Pritchard to fight charge

6:08 am on 7 March 2012

The Bulldogs forward Frank Pritchard has elected to fight the careless high tackle charge he received in his side's National Rugby League round one win over the Panthers.

The judiciary hearing is expected to take place in Sydney tonight.

Pritchard was placed on report after his hit that concussed Penrith winger Dave Simmons.

The Kiwi international risks missing Saturday's clash with the Dragons if unsuccessful in fighting the Grade 1 charge.

Meanwhile Newcastle centre Timana Tahu has taken the early guilty plea and will accept a one week ban for kneeing Matt Prior of the Dragons.

He misses the Knights' round two match against Cronulla on Sunday.
