Kaino to miss rest of Super rugby season

The Blues Super Rugby campaign has suffered a major setback with All Black Jerome Kaino's season over after just two games.

Kaino suffered a shoulder injury in the Blues loss to the Chiefs a week ago but continued playing in the hope it'd settle down.

He didn't travel with the Blues to South Africa missing the win over the Bulls this weekend, with scans showing a piece of bone has been dislodged from his shoulder joint and requires surgery.

Kaino will be out for six months meaning he'll also miss most if not all of the All Blacks Four Nations competition.

The Blues coach Pat Lam says the severity of Kaino's injury is a shock and his absence for the rest of the campaign is a big blow.
