Anton Cooper wins Junior Mens Mountainbike World Cup opener

9:50 am on 19 March 2012

New Zealand's Anton Cooper carried on his Mountainbike World Cup winning ways overnight in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa at the season opening round.

After winning the last two World Cup rounds of 2011, Cooper made short work of the Junior Mens race to win comfortably by four and a half minutes.

Now racing for the Trek World Racing Team, Cooper gave the rest of the Junior field no opportunity to challenge at the front of the race with a typically dominant performance, and he will line up at the next World Cup round at Houffalize in Belgium wearing the World Cup leaders jersey.

Victor Korestzky of France came second, and Nicolas Sessler of Brazil third.
