Black Caps unlikely to make major changes in batting order

There's unlikely to be a major upheaval in the Black Caps batting order for the third cricket test against South Africa starting in Wellington on Friday.

Two batsmen, Daniel Flynn and Dean Brownlie have been called into the squad, with opener Rob Nicol and pace bowler Brent Arnel dropped.

Coach John Wright has indicated they've considered moving Brendon McCullum up from three to open with Martin Guptill but that'd mean tinkering with the middle order, so the preference seems to be for the left handed Flynn to open.

Wright appears loathe to move Kane Williamson up to three if McCullum opened saying batting there against Pakistan last summer didn't work.

He's pleased with the way McCullum has batted at three so is keen to leave him there while Wright says six seems the best spot Brownlie, which means Dan Vettori will drop to seven in the order.
