T-Rex cops seven-week ban

Manly's star forward Tony Williams will miss seven National Rugby League matches after taking an early guilty plea for a dangerous throw.

Williams accepted the seven-match ban for the grade four infringement on Cronulla's Isaac De Gois on Monday night.

The Sea Eagles decided risk of losing at the judiciary was too great, with Williams facing 10 weeks on the sidelines if he was unsuccessful in downgrading the charge.

The suspension rules the incumbent Test powerhouse out of Australia's clash with New Zealand in April, and will severely impact his State of Origin chances for New South Wales.
