The chief executive of the English football Premier League insists there is no chance of scrapping the pre-match handshake before John Terry's next highly charged meeting with Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand.
Chelsea captain Terry, accused of racially abusing Ferdinand during a match in October, is scheduled to come face to face with the centre-back on April the 29th, two months before the England star goes on trial over the allegations.
The Football Association agreed to cancel the pre-match handshake before January's FA Cup clash between the sides after it emerged the QPR team were planning to snub Terry, who denies any wrongdoing.
The clubs meet again in the Premier League at the end of next month and chief executive Richard Scudamore knows there is a chance QPR's players may decide not to acknowledge Terry.
But he says the League is fundamentally opposed to scrapping the ritual itself and he has no intention of making an exception in this case.
