Another embarrassing loss for Panthers, Brisbane post third win

12:15 pm on 24 March 2012

The Parramatta Eels produced one of the most inept performances in the national rugby league club's proud history with local rivals the Penrith Panthers embarrassing the Eels on their home turf with a 39-6 thumping on Friday night.

Without a win in 2012, the Eels were booed from the field as they headed to the halftime break down 23-0.

And it was one of their own that did most of the damage, former Eel Etu Uaisele scoring a hat-trick in the seven tries to one rout.

The nature of the defeat is sure to increase pressure on under siege coach Stephen Kearney, who is also the Kiwis coach.

Elsewhere the Brisbane Broncos beat South Sydney 20-12 in Perth despite a horror injury to Brisbane winger Jharal Yow Yeh.

His State of Origin hopes are hanging by a thread after he suffered a serious ankle injury.

The Rabbitohs' third loss of the season leaves them behind the eight-ball early on, while Brisbane (3-1) are in a solid position.
