Central Coast Mariners survived a nerve-wracking final few minutes against the Wellington Phoenix on Sunday to secure regular season honours in the A-League.
The Mariners seemed to be cruising to victory, but a sensational goal from a free kick 25 metres out by Leo Bertos suddenly changed the complexion of the match with 10 minutes to go.
But the Mariners held on and secured the win they needed to finish ahead of the Brisbane Roar.
The Phoenix finished the regular season in fourth place and they host Sydney FC in the opening round of the playoffs.
