Roosters claim scrappy win over Warriors

The Sydney Roosters continued their impressive start to the year on Saturday night, upsetting National Rugby League grand finalists the New Zealand Warriors 26-8 in a scrappy affair at Allianz Stadium.

The victory moves the Roosters into the top eight, while Brian McClennan's Warriors fell to their third loss of the year after an uncharacteristically lackadaisical effort.

The Roosters led from start to finish, scoring in the fifth minute through New Zealand international Shaun Kenny-Dowall and regularly extending that lead throughout the clash as the Warriors struggled to get in the game.

Try-scoring dynamo Glen Fisiiahi pulled on the No.1 jersey for the Warriors for the first time this season after first-choice fullback Kevin Locke failed to recover from injury, and Fisiiahi scored his third career try.

Veteran prop Sam Rapira also returned after missing the opening four rounds with a shoulder injury.
