Blues chairman steps down

6:55 pm on 5 April 2012

The chairman of the Blues Super Rugby side, Greg Muir, has announced he will stand down from his position on the board, effective immediately.

Muir says he has other business matters that need resolving and after discussions with the Auckland board all parties consider it appropriate for him to stand down.

Ongoing investigations into Hanover Finance are believed to be the business matters Muir's dealing with - the Financial Markets Authority has begun civil proceedings against Hanover's key players, including Muir.

Auckland Rugby chairman Glenn Wahlstrom has accepted Muir's resignation as one of two Auckland Rugby representatives on the Blues board.
