Bowe to miss tour of New Zealand

The Ireland winger Tommy Bowe is set to miss their rugby tour to New Zealand in June after undergoing surgery.

The 28-year-old has played his last game for the Ospreys - having already confirmed a move to Ulster - in order to undergo treatment in Ireland for the removal of a haematoma, which has pushed into his kidney and caused raised blood pressure.

Bowe has been ruled out for the remainder of this season and the Ospreys estimate that he could face four months on the sidelines.

Ireland travel to New Zealand for a three-Test series in June.

Bowe was a 2009 British and Irish Lion in South Africa.
