Britain's Guardian newspaper is reporting that former All Blacks' coach Wayne Smith is the favorite to be appointed as England's temporary backs coach for the summer tour to South Africa.

The RFU had been chasing Saracens coach Andy Farrell but he announced yesterday that he wanted to remain with the club.

Smith has experience of English rugby after a stint as Northampton's director of rugby in the early 2000s and indicated last month that he would be interested in an opportunity with the international side.
