The Italian Football Federation has called off all weekend football in Italy following the death of Livorno midfielder Piermario Morosini.

The 25-year-old collapsed on the pitch during a second division game at Pescara and was later pronounced dead in hospital.

The move means there will be no Serie A action this weekend.

Morosini collapsed suddenly in the first half of the game, leading to the match being abandoned.

He was treated on the pitch before being taken away by ambulance to the Civile Santo Spirito hospital in Pescara.

But he was later pronounced dead.
