The Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic - traditionally one of the strongest New Zealand sides in the trans-Tasman netball competition, are winless after three rounds.

The New South Wales Swifts left the Magic as the only team without a win in the competition last night, defeating the visitors 49-47 in Sydney.

It was a game of cat and mouse as the sides traded the lead and momentum.

The Swifts trailed 24-21 at halftime and by up to four goals in the third quarter but they clawed their way back to equality by the last break after outscoring Magic 16-13 in the third term.

The Magic fought back in the final term to level but Swifts shooter Carla Dziwoki nailed a couple of crunch shots down the stretch to give her side victory.

Dziwoki finished with 88 per cent shooting rate.

For the Magic, Irene van Dyk shot at 92 per cent and partner Juliana Naoupu finished with 82 per cent.

Earlier the Northern Mystics beat the West Coast Fever 52-45 in Auckland to draw level with the Melbourne Vixens on six points at the top of the table.

They are the only two unbeaten teams left.
