12:41 pm on 17 April 2012

The All Blacks halfback Jimmy Cowan's expected to announce today he's heading to England at the end of the year.

Cowan's been linked with English club Gloucester and Highlanders officials say he'll make a statement on his future later this afternoon.

Cowan's been relegated to the Highlanders second choice half back this season, kept out of the starting line up by Aaron Smith.

He came off the bench for his 100th match for the Highlanders, in their loss to the South African side the Stormers last round.

Cowan's likely to remain in New Zealand for the national provincial season as he's expressed a desire to play 200 hundred games for Southland.

He's so far played 194 matches for the Stags.
