Ethiopian great misses out on Olympics

The legendary Ethiopian long distance runner Haile Gebrselassie has given up on his dream of competing at the London Olympics later this year.

Time has caught up with Gebrselassie, who turns 39 tomorrow. He's been unable to make Ethiopia's Olympic marathon team as no fewer than 18 of his countrymen have clocked faster marathon times this year.

The dual Olympic 10,000 metres gold medalist says he'll be competing in his last competitive 10k race next month in the Netherlands.
