Tigers hold on for 31-30 NRL win over Eels

Parramatta's miserable start to the National Rugby League season continued last night, despite falling by just one point to Wests Tigers.

The Eels scored five converted tries in the last 13 minutes to roar home - but fell agonisingly short of the valuable two competition points, with Benji Marshall's first-half field goal the difference for the Tigers in the 31-30 victory.

The Tigers coach Tim Sheens labelled his team's victory as rubbish given the Tigers conceded 30 unanswered points in the final 13 minutes.

Elsewhere Cronulla claimed their sixth NRL victory in a row with a 44-22 thumping of a hapless Canberra to match their best winning streak since 2002.
