The Kenya cricket coach New Zealander Mike Hesson resigned has resigned only ten months into his two-year contract citing security concerns.
The 37-year-old, who took over from West Indian Eldine Baptiste in July 2011, says he's giving up the role due to a number of security issues that have affected his family.
Hesson, a father of two young daughters, says his decision has nothing to do with the issues relating to his role as national coach and is not cricket related in any way.
He says while arrangements are being made for his wife and children to return to New Zealand as soon as possible, he will remain behind to complete any imminent national team engagements.
The former Otago coach will be in charge when Kenya hosts Namibia in a four-day ICC Intercontinental Cup qualifier next month, which will also include two one-day internationals and two unofficial Twenty20 matches.
