Carter says he's up to taking on goal kicking duties

The Crusaders and All Blacks first five Dan Carter says he wouldn't take on the kicking duties against the Blues this weekend if he didn't feel up to it.

Carter's only played at second five for the Crusaders this season and hasn't been goal kicking in matches as he still recovers from the groin injury which forced him out of last year's World Cup.

Carter admits he's not fully fit and has lost some power, but is confident of getting through the match.

The Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder has made seven changes to the starting lineup which lost to the Melbourne Rebels and several positional switches.

Captain Richie McCaw moves to number eight with Kieran Read out injured.

Back in the starting lineup are halfback Andy Ellis and fullback Israel Dagg.
