Volvo fleet sails into a storm

The Volvo Ocean Race fleet has headed out of Miami and straight towards a tropical storm as the seventh leg begins to Lisbon in Portugal.

Overall race leaders Team Telefónica hold a narrow lead as the boats head out into the North Atlantic and into Tropical Storm Alberto, the first of the 2012 hurricane season, with winds of up to 45 knots at its centre.

After more than six months and thousands of nautical miles of extreme racing, Telefónica still lead with 165 points but Groupama are snapping at their heels just seven points behind on 158, while Team New Zealand's yacht Camper is third on 152.
