The New South Wales prop James Tamou will be able to play in the second State of Origin rugby league match, after the North Queensland player escaped being charged by the NRL match review committee.

The committee's ruled Tamou has no case to answer for his late tackle on Wests Tigers halfback and Kiwis skipper Benji Marshall.

Tamou collected Marshall well after he put in a clearing kick with Marshall lashing out in retaliation.

However Manly and Kiwis centre Steve Matai could be banned for three games for a high tackle during his side's loss to Penrith.

An early guilty plea will result in Matai being suspended for two matches.
