Female boxers deserve equality says Pritchard

New Zealand's Alexis Pritchard says female boxers deserve to be given the same status as their male counterparts.

Pritchard and Siona Fernandes are set to make history as the first female fighters to represent New Zealand at the Olympic Games after their selection was confirmed on Thursday.

The boxers cemented their spots at last month's women's world amateur championships in China.

Pritchard says it's about time female boxers were given the recognition they deserve.

She says they work just as hard as male boxers and are just as committed.

Pritchard says they've reached a level where people will appreciate what they're doing.
