The New Zealand cyclist Hayden Roulston won't race in this year's Tour de France after missing out on selection in the Radioshack Nissan Trek team.

After initially being named in a pre-selection of 14 riders Roulston missed the cut when the team was whittled down to a final roster of nine to compete in the tour, which starts at the end of the month.

He says his omission was disappointing but not surprising and says he only has himself to blame for missing out on a spot in the strong team.

He now moves on to plan B which is the Tour of Poland which starts in mid-July, and is hoping to be included in the New Zealand road cycling team for the London Olympics with the squad to be named

in a couple of weeks.
