Big Manu to have surgery

5:42 pm on 21 June 2012

The Warriors wing Manu Vatuvei will miss at least the next three National Rugby League games - he's set to have surgery on his injured left knee.

The Warriors team doctor John Mayhew has confirmed Vatuvei needs an operation to repair meniscal tears to the medial and lateral ligaments in his left knee. He has been booked in for surgery tomorrow and is expected to be out for up to four weeks.

Vatuvei will skip the Warriors' next NRL games against North Queensland, Gold Coast and Brisbane.

The 26-year-old suffered the injury during his two-try performance in the club's win at Penrith two weeks ago.

While Vatuvei had to withdraw from the side for Saturday night's loss at Cronulla, it was initially hoped he would recover after treatment to play in the home game against North Queensland on Sunday July the 1st.
