NZ Olympic road cycling team named

Former world track champion Greg Henderson and Jack Bauer have been selecetd to ride the cycle road race for New Zealand at the London Olympics, while Linda Villumsen is the sole national representative in the women's race.

Henderson will compete in his fifth Olympics, while Bauer will make his debut and Villumsen will compete for the country for the first time at the Olympics. Villumsen represented Denmark at the Beijing Games.

Two of New Zealand's most experienced men's riders, Julian Dean and Hayden Roulston, miss out with just two places available, but they have been named as reserves.

Henderson will ride his first Tour de France this month.

Villumsen was fifth in the women's road race in Beijing while she won a bronze bronze medal in the time trial at the world championships in 2009 and 2010, and silver in 2011 - as well as a silver medal in this event at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
