New Zealand tennis junior Emily Fanning has been beaten in the first round of the junior singles at Wimbledon this morning 6-1 6-3 by Switzerland's Belinda Bencic.
Playing in her first Wimbledon, Fanning aged 17 and ranked 43 in the ITF world juniors made too many errors in the 53 minute contest compared to her opponent.
Bencic, just 15-years-old but is ranked 21st and considered one of the rising stars of European tennis after making the semis at the build-up event in Roehampton and the quarters of Roland Garros juniors.
