The British rider Mark Cavendish pipped the German Andre Greipel and Australia's Matt Goss in a mass sprint finish to win the second stage of the Tour de France.
There was no change to the overall lead after the mostly flat 207km stage in Belgium.
The Swiss Fabian Cancellara leads by seven seconds from the Englishman Bradley Wiggins and Australia's defending champion Cadel Evans is in 8th place, 17 seconds down on the leader.
