Magic frustrated at over-ruling of player safety fears

The boss of the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic netball franchise says they're disappointed at being forced to play Monday's trans-Tasman semi-final in Hamilton.

The Magic want to play the match in Tauranga, as they have concerns over the quality of the floor at the Claudelands Event Centre in Hamilton.

The Magic chief executive Sheryl Dawson says they raised concerns about the floor early in the season, as it doesn't have as much give as other courts and and is causing injuries.

But the ANZ Championship has demanded the match against Adelaide be played in Hamilton as the venue seats about a thousand more spectators than Tauranga, and they take all the revenue from the playoff games

And Dawson says the call is the trans-Tasman league's, not hers.

She says they be will meeting with the international company which installed the flooring system to discuss the problems but that won't be until after the trans-Tasman season.
