Roger Federer is back on top of the tennis world as Wimbledon champion for a record equalling 7th time, and number one in the world again.

Federer recovered from a sluggish start to beat the British hope Andy Murray 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4 and claim his 17th grand slam crown.

The turning point of the match was a marathon 6th game in the third set, when Federer eventually broke Murray's serve and took control, sealing his win on his second match point.

Federer says it feels amazing to win another Wimbledon title and feels he's playing some of the best tennis of this career.

A record 20 million anxious British watched the telecast to see if Andy Murray could emulate Fred Perry's heroics of 1936.

Murray had to hold back the tears after losing his fourth final of a grand slam but was gracious in defeat.
