The Wellington Phoenix have signed All Whites defender Michael Boxall on a two-year deal to play in the A-League football competition.
Boxall has been with the Vancouver Whitecaps in the US Major League Soccer competition since last year but has been getting limited game time.
Boxall says he was out of favour with the Vancouver coaching staff and it was time to move on.
The Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert says Boxall's signing will provide cover and competition for the central defensive pairing of Andrew Durante and Ben Sigmund.
