Wet British summer provides challenges

The wet British summer is proving a challenge for London Olympic organisers with contingency plans that could lead to the rescheduling of the rowing and equestrian events as a last resort.

Following months of rain the Games chairman Sebastian Coe was presenting a worst case scenario at his daily briefing, though some forecasts suggest the weather is about to lift.

Ten days out from the Opening Ceremony, Coe says there are some waterlogged sites, but there was no risk of venues not being ready on time, and while there was still work to be done, it was not substantive.
