The Northern Districts wicketkeeper Peter McGlashan has announced his retirement from all cricket.

McGlashan, who's 33, represented New Zealand in one day and Twenty20 matches and was this week named in the Black Caps' 30-man preliminary squad for the World Twenty20 tournament in September but has told New Zealand Cricket he's retiring from the game.

Between 2006 and 2010 McGlashan played 15 games for New Zealand in one day internationals and Twenty20 matches.

McGlashan is taking up a new role as Director of Sport and Wellbeing for the Glenn Family Foundation.
