Sharks dismiss poor finals showing ahead of Chiefs encounter

The Sharks coach John Plumtree's dismissing the South African franchise's record of Super Rugby final failures ahead of this weekend's decider against the Chiefs in Hamilton.

The Durban-based team's currently in Sydney and will head to Hamilton on Thursday.

Saturday night's game is the fourth time the Sharks have reached the final having lost all three previous title playoffs.

As Natal, they were beaten by the Blues in the first year of the competition in 1996.

The ACT Brumbies beat them in 2001 and they lost at home to the Bulls in Durban in 2007.

But Plumtree maintains history is irrelevant to his players and he's also downplaying the travel factor during the playoffs with the Sharks having gone from South Africa to Australia, back home and then to New Zealand.
