Hansen will wait for Williams

3:12 pm on 10 August 2012

The All Blacks coach Steve Hansen will to wait up until the middle of next week for Sonny Bill Williams to be cleared to play in the first test of the Rugby Championship against Australia next weekend.

Williams was a notable absentee from today's training in Waitakere as he underwent medical tests for his Japanese club Panasonic, who he'll join at the end of the month.

Hansen says he's 99 percent sure Williams inclusion would be confirmed by the weekend but says he'll wait until as late as Tuesday before moving to plan B.

The All Blacks play a 40-minute match against the Counties-Manukau and Auckland provincial rugby teams in Pukekohe tonight.

The match will be the men in blacks only hitout before next Saturday's Bledisloe Cup test against the Wallabies in Sydney.
