Manchester City win Community Shield

Manchester City have beaten a 10-man Chelsea side 3-2 to claim the Community Shield trophy.

With Wembley busy, Villa Park in Birmingham hosted the traditional curtain raiser to the English football season which pitted the champions City against FA Cup winners Chelsea.

Chelsea took the lead in the first half through Fernando Torres but only minutes later, they lost defender Branislav Ivanovic sent off for a challenge Aleksandar Kolarov.

City's response in the second half was swift as three goals from Yaya Toure, Carlos Tevez and Samir Nasri within the space of 12 minutes shocked Chelsea.

A late consolation goal from Ryan Bertrand was not enough as Manchester City bagged their first piece of silverware of the 2012/13 season.
